Quality literature to check-out from library?
Hello. My kids love going to the library every week to check-out books. In addition to one history book and one science book, they enjoy picking a couple of fiction books for pleasure reading. However, now that my two oldest (daughters) are in chapter books, we are running into problematic material in books they seem to be attracted to. We've read all the American Girl books the library has, all the Nancy Drew books, all the Boxcar books, all the Cobblestreet books. I've searched our library's system for books from Bethlehem Books' website, only to find they have none. Can anyone recommend an author or book series that is wholesome for a 10 and 8 year old to read?
Thanks,
Amy

Carolyn Keene has written a series entitled The Dana Girls. I have not read them all, but I think they are similar to Nancy Drew. She has also written a series of The Bobsey Twins. I searched for Bethlehem Books in my library and could not find any, however when I tried looking up individual authors I did find some old editions of the books. Also, Our Lady of Victory School has some good suggestions for Lit. Books. Maybe you could also look for some abridged classics like Little Women or Eight Cousins or The Little Princess.

I forgot to list this in the last post, but Childhood of Famous Americans has some good historical fiction books.
